My telegram No.402. (25).
In suggesting consideration of a modification of terms of this war expenditure settlement which he
(? I intended) felt might meet local criticisms, I took lt for granted that the assumption contained in paragraph 14 of my despatch No. 292 of 12th December, 1947, regarding denial of claims was correct and also
that any outstanding claims in respect of damage of demolitions resulting from the landing of heavy equipment of the reoccupying forces, of which my savingram No. 583 of 26th September. 1947, official specimen, would be dealt with by service departments concerned, and would be no (repeat no) concern of the Civil Government. I should be grateful for confirmation of this before statement is issued.
